I had the privilege of being invited to the Stars and Stripes Festival at Belmont in Long Island – thanks to America’s Best Racing. ABR is a company that promotes the wonderful sport of Thoroughbred racing, and just in the few hours I spent with some of the team members, I could see their passion for it! I brought my father and best friend along with me, and we had a blast!

We started the day with some mimosas, and started looking at which horses we were going to place bets on. Let me tell ya, betting on horses is probably the most exhilarating thing ever — and let’s just say my father, best friend, and I all left the track winners (yay for being lucky). My father explained the ins and outs of horse racing, and helped us decide on a few good picks. After a few races and a trip into the paddock to see the horses and jockeys up close, we set up a little tailgate and ate at the food trucks (#pulledporkmacandcheese).

Overall it was such a fun day, and I realized just how much I like actually being at the races — plus who wouldn’t want to get dressed up for a day (and possibly win money)?!

I highly recommend everyone to check out America’s Best Racing’s website for more information about the sport — or just get out and watch some races at your local track!
